Chamblaise 2009 vs. 2010 Tasting Notes

I saved one bottle of 2009 Chamblaise to compare to the newly-bottled 2010 vintage.ย  Part of the comparison was to see how much this wine changes with some aging, if at all.

We tasted the 2010 Chamblaise first.ย  It has rich aromas of fresh-picked pear and green apple with hint of freshly-mowed grass. Very clear, very pale greenish-gold in color (and this vintage was not filtered). Herbal flavors of melon rind, white peach, and pear, very crisp and clean. Dry and crisp, amazingly great just 3 days after bottling!

Then we popped open the last of the 2009 Chamblaise, which was bottled in April of 2009.ย  In comparison, the nose is more fruit-forward, though still has edge of grass; the flavors are more mature, less crisp and “green” than the 2010 vintage.ย  However, the wines were surprisingly very similar, the new one just tasted, well, newer.ย  Overall this wine ages gracefully and is a perfect go-to white for almost any dish.ย  I love this wine, it’s so perfect and so easy to drink!
