I submitted 3 wines this year: <a href=\"\/index.php\/2011\/02\/22\/tasting-fined-petite-sirah\/\">2009 &#8220;Cabrillo Bridge&#8221; Petite Sirah<\/a>, which won a silver medal (should have been a gold!), <a href=\"\/index.php\/2010\/09\/20\/carmenere-we-limited-edition-2-12-year-tasting-note\/\">2008 Winexpert Limited Edition Carmenere\/Cabernet blend<\/a>, which won a bronze medal, and 2011 Winexpert Symphony, which won a silver medal.  It was also the first year to have a Homemade Cheese competition, I entered a ricotta salata dusted with pimenton and feta, both won a blue ribbon.<\/p>\n<p>This year was the largest number of entries to date with 350 wines submitted. We ended our day at the Fair with the obligatory overload of all things fried, including deep fried bacon and &#8220;porkabellos&#8221;, cheese-stuffed mushrooms wrapped in bacon on a stick, deep fried of course.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-2581\" href=\"\/index.php\/2012\/07\/16\/2012-san-diego-county-homemade-wine-awards\/img_0623\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2581\" title=\"Deep fried goodness!
