Decant
Wine is poured out into a secondary serving vessel.ย Decanting may have 2 purposes:ย for older wine, decanting may be done in order to removed sediments that have formed in the bottle;ย in young wines, decanting serves to introduce oxygen throughout the wine.ย Oxygenation of young wine โopensโ it up through oxidation reactions with various wine components.ย Not all wines require or benefit from decanting.
